Codemasters Video Racing Games
Codemasters (earlier known as Code Masters and often nicknamed Codies in magazines) is one of the longest running British video game developers. It was founded in 1985, and has become a very well know name in the whole of the gaming world industry.
Game Series and Titles
Codemasters have released titles such as the TOCA Touring Car series, Colin McRae Rally series, Race Driver Grid, Brian Lara Cricket series and Operation Flashpoint. The first two are an absolute legend in the video racing game history.
The Near Future
On May 9, 2008, it was anannounced that they had won the rights to the Formula One license after Sony‘s deal ran out. Codemasters will release their first Formula One game, F1 2009, on the Wii and PlayStation Portable sometime in Autumn 2009, and another similar game, F1 2010, on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2010. The game will be based on the DiRT 2 engine.
Something that can be very challenging for them, knowing that the company have never developed a racing game of this king before. Are they going to bring the real F1 simulator to its best? We all wait for this, but don’t keep your hopes up too much….
