A multiplayer video game is one which more than one person can play in the same game environment at the same time. Unlike most other games, computer and video racing games are often single-player activities that put the player against preprogrammed challenges and/or AI-controlled opponents, which often lack the flexibility and ingenuity of regular human thinking.
Video racing is probably the best game genre for multiplayer. Nothing is better than racing someone else side by side. The modern video race simulations can provide you with a real life motor chase without putting anyone at risk and feel free to wreck a £300 000 super car. The experience is so addictive and real.
And with todays video game titles this type of racing becomes more and more realistic all the time. The online multiplayer is even better. First thing you don’t have to share the screen with the other car and second of all you can race much more opponents than the head to head 2 player mode. Some video racers support up to 32 online players at the same time.
The number of supported online players vary, depending on the video game platform. But both leading PlayStation3 and Xbox360 consoles will manage to bring the most of their game titles online.
Multiplayer is the ultimate driving test. Because no matter how advanced your game AI is, eventually you manage to beat the hell out of it. And then the game becomes so boring and dull. Best example – GranTurismo 5. Or actually the Prologue because GT5 is no where near the official release. Anyway, I’ve been playing it for over 2 years now and believe me I hate it to peaces. The online multiplayer is the thing that still keeps me going. It is never boring. One problem though, racing against others online might put your self esteem down big time. It is very very hard. This is where a driver is made. And buying all that steering wheel and racing seat start paying back.
